Council Ranger Van Fit-Out (Scan to Fabrication)
Project Description
Euler Engineering was engaged to support the design and fabrication of a custom internal fit-out for a Council Ranger vehicle. The project required accurate integration of animal cages, storage systems, and access solutions within an existing LDV van, with minimal modification to the vehicle structure
Scope & Methodology
-
Conducted a non-intrusive 3D laser scan of the existing LDV van interior and access openings
-
Captured accurate geometry of the vehicle shell, doors, floor levels, and clearances
-
Developed a coordinated 3D design directly within the scanned environment to ensure precise fit
-
Designed a complete internal frame system including:
-
One large dog cage
-
Two smaller cat cages with hinged access doors
-
Dedicated storage areas for Ranger equipment
-
Hinged access ramp for safe loading and unloading of the large cage
-
Integrated human-scale models to validate ergonomics, access, and operational safety
Design & Documentation Deliverables
-
Full 3D concept model for Council review and sign-off
-
Detailed fabrication drawings suitable for workshop manufacture
-
Complete Bill of Materials (BOM)
-
2D DXF files for laser cutting of all plate components
Outcome & Value
-
Enabled confident design approval using an accurate, real-world digital model
-
Eliminated rework and clashes by designing directly to the scanned vehicle geometry
-
Reduced fabrication risk and installation time
-
Delivered a practical, durable solution tailored to Council operational requirements
-
Provided Council with a reusable digital asset for future vehicle fit-outs
