Project Description

Euler Engineering delivered a detailed LOD 300 architectural and structural BIM model of a multi-storey education facility located in Sydney, Australia.

The project encompassed Basement Level (B1) through to Level 5, covering approximately 140,500 sq ft of built area. The model was developed from high-resolution point cloud data to support design coordination, documentation updates, refurbishment planning, and stakeholder review.

Given the operational nature of the facility, accuracy and spatial coordination were critical to ensure minimal disruption to ongoing campus activities.

Scope & Methodology

  • Processing and registration of point cloud data using Autodesk Recap and TruView

  • Establishment of coordinated levels, grids, and shared reference systems in Revit

  • Architectural modelling including:

  • External façade systems and glazing

  • Internal partitions and core walls

  • Floor slabs and roof structures

  • Stair cores and circulation elements

  • Doors, windows, and façade openings

  • Structural modelling including:

  • Columns and primary framing members

  • Structural slabs and beams

  • Major load-bearing systems

  • Development to LOD 300, including:

  • Accurate geometry

  • Defined system relationships

  • Coordinated model suitable for documentation and clash review

  • Internal QA checks to validate model alignment with scan data

Tools Used

  • Revit | Autodesk Recap | TruView

Outcome & Value

  • Delivered a fully coordinated BIM model suitable for detailed design and documentation

  • Improved design certainty through accurate as-built representation

  • Reduced risk of clashes during refurbishment works

  • Enabled informed planning for staged construction in an operational education environment

  • Streamlined communication between consultants and stakeholders

Key Benefit

By transforming complex point cloud data into a structured LOD 300 BIM model, Euler Engineering provided a reliable digital twin of the facility — enabling confident decision-making, efficient coordination, and reduced project risk.
